Driver who crashed car into pole dies at hospital

A man died early Sunday after he crashed his car into a utility pole, authorities said.

The driver left the roadway about 2 a.m. and hit a pole at Auburn Boulevard and Watt Avenue, Sacramento police said. Paramedics took the 39-year-old motorist to an hospital, where he died.

The victim’s identity was not released because his family had not been notified. Sgt. Justin Brown, a police spokesman, said investigators were looking into whether the driver was impaired.
