Man arrested after south Sacramento tarp death mystery
A 52-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of killing a Sacramento man who was found under a tarp Friday afternoon in a south Sacramento driveway, police report.
The arrest of Ronald Montez comes after police found the body of 60-year-old Arthur Rodriguez outside a home in the 5500 block of Emerson Road in the Colonial Village. Sacramento police officers found indications of a struggle inside the house.
Police initially said they interviewed Montez about his stab wounds, which were not life threatening, when he was at a hospital, and he mentioned that someone else was possibly assaulted. Police said they interviewed Montez again after his release from the hospital, then booked him into the Sacramento County jail.
A motive has not been determined, but Montez is believed to have known Rodriguez.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office did not list a preliminary cause of death for Rodriguez, but police said he showed signs of trauma.
