One person missing after boat overturns in Wheatland lake
One person is missing after a fishing boat carrying six people overturned at Camp Far West Lake in Wheatland Sunday afternoon, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Department.
The boat was hit by the wake of another craft at 5:30 p.m., causing it to overturn and split in half, said Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Dena Erwin.
Three boaters were found and have been transported to local, undisclosed hospitals, Erwin said. Two others survived the accident uninjured.
A rescue team was headed for the lake early Sunday evening, Erwin said.
