A new school is set to be constructed within the Folsom Cordova Unified School District.

Alder Creek Elementary School construction will break ground at a ceremony at 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the city of Folsom. District documents say it is expected to be completed in July 2024.

The school, located at 4545 Old Ranch Way, will serve approximately 764 students starting in the 2024-25 school year, according to Angela Griffin Ankhelyi, a spokeswoman for the district.

The district said it would be a two-story, single 71,000-square-foot building in the Folsom Ranch development area. It will serve grades TK-5.

According to the city, attendees of Tuesday’s event should wear flat, closed-toed shoes, and parking will be facilitated on neighboring streets.

“It’s a ceremonial first dig,” Griffin Akhelyi said. “There will be dignitaries and the golden shovels. Typically, we’ll have a ribbon-cutting ceremony, so that won’t be until much later.”
