Northern California hospital temporarily restricts visitations due to ‘safety concern’
Adventist Health and Rideout hospital in Yuba County suspended most visitations Friday due to a “safety concern,” officials said in a statement, before lifting the restrictions Saturday morning.
The hospital, at 726 Fourth St. in the Northern California city of Marysville, stated it was working with law enforcement on the issue. Adventist in initial Facebook posts beginning around 3 p.m. Friday said it would provide an update Monday on the status of visitor access but in an update just before 10 a.m. Saturday said restrictions “have been lifted and the hospital has resumed normal operations.”
While hospital officials said they were “confident that (the) campus is safe,” they issued visitation restrictions out of an “abundance of caution.”
In its statement, the hospital clarified that there were no medical outbreaks, clinical challenges or any issues related to health care.
“Our hospital will continue to conduct scheduled procedures and our emergency department remains open 24/7,” the statement read., in part. “We urge anyone experiencing a medical emergency to seek care immediately and not delay care.”
The hospital otherwise did not provide additional details about the nature of the safety concern. Officials with the Marysville Police Department and Yuba County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Restricted visitation exceptions included pediatric patients, those with a disability or cognitive impairment, labor, postpartum, neonatal intensive care, and end of life circumstances.
