Galt man, 20, identified as victim in fatal one-car crash near Herald, CHP says
A 20-year-old Galt man killed in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon near Herald has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities responded about 4:30 p.m. to a collision on Alta Mesa Road, near Twin Cities Road, where a 2005 Toyota Scion had traveled down an embankment, struck a tree and overturned in a field, according to a news release by the California Highway Patrol.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by Herald Fire Department personnel, according to the CHP.
The Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Takota Beck-Murphy of Galt.
The CHP news release indicated that the Toyota drifted off the road after making an unsafe movement.
The fatal crash remains under investigation, and it is not known whether drugs or alcohol played a role, the CHP said.
