Sacramento airport sets passenger record in 2025 with addition of new flights
Sacramento International Airport set a record in 2025 for total annual passengers.
The airport served 13,912,718 passengers last year, officials said in a Monday news release. That’s a 2% bump over 2024 and a new record.
The figures extended the airport’s growth streak to 23 months of year-over-year passenger gains and made it one of the fastest-growing airports in the nation, officials said.
The airport also set several monthly passenger records, including spikes in June and July.
It retained 12% more travelers who previously traveled to Bay Area airports, about 400,000 in all.
“These results show that strategic investment, strong airline partnerships, and a clear vision for the future are paying off,” said Cindy Nichol, Sacramento County director of airports.
Officials credited the addition of six new nonstop routes, along with progress on a $1.4 billion modernization program, for the increase.
In 2025, the airport added direct flights to Anchorage, Baltimore, Orlando and Tuscon, along with Morelia and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.
Construction on a new parking garage and pedestrian walkway also began. The airport also added new concessions.
In 2026, the airport intends to add its first-ever nonstop European service.
