Rocklin studied traffic on Whitney Ranch Parkway. What drivers need to know
In one month, Rocklin drivers will need to slow down on a busy roadway after a city-ordered traffic study triggered a lower speed limit.
Whitney Ranch Parkway, between Highway 65 and Wildcat Boulevard, is currently has a speed limit of 45 mph.
A survey by the city’s engineering and traffic departments found the average driver on Whitney Ranch Parkway traveled about 3 mph below the current limit during a dry January study, according to the city.
Based on those findings, the speed limit will drop to 40 mph starting April 30.
Rocklin Mayor David Bass said the change is part of the city’s commitment to safety.
“The results of our recent speed survey reinforce what we already know: Safe streets are fundamental to a strong, connected community,” he said. “As mayor, public safety is always my top priority, and that includes making sure our roadways are designed and used in ways that keep people safe.”
