Mansion on former monastery grounds is Indiana’s most expensive home for sale. See why
A tizzy of a mega mansion has hit the real estate market in Indianapolis for $14 million, making it the most-expensive home for sale in Indiana.
Topping over 41,700 square feet, the property has been viewed more than 130,000 times on Redfin thanks to its stunning inside and curious history.
The seven-bedroom, 13.5-bath mansion rests on 150 acres, which were the former grounds of the Benedictine Monastery of St. Maur, the listing on Redfin says.
According to Mansion Global, the aesthetic appeal of the outside stems from the lovely gardens and imported trees.
“It is the symmetry they bring from the inside to the outside,” listing agent Stan Burton told Mansion Global. “The house is surrounded by beautiful formal gardens, the lake out back. From every whatever room you’re in, anytime you look out a window, it’s a picture. The grounds and the formal gardens are meticulously maintained and you just have just such a great outside feeling when you’re inside.”
The home nabbed the attention of the popular social media page Zillow Gone Wild, and the photos made fans flutter heart-eyes.
“I need to buy this to start a school for ‘gifted youngsters’ struggling with their powers,” one person joked.
“This is the best mansion I’ve ever seen posted here,” another gushed. “Tasteful in every aspect. Ok. Time to win Powerball!”
“I don’t usually like oversized homes, but I think I could manage this one,” one person said.

“I could set up in the garage,” one person commented. “That would be enough for me. The grounds are absolutely stunning. This estate is gorgeous.”
“It is NOT pictured in Zillow or the real estate ads- but when they built this property (when I was in college at Butler - which is close to this property) - they built tall solid walls all along Michigan Road bordering this property, and you cannot see any part of this property from the road or anywhere nearby,” another said. “The amount of privacy is unbelievable.”

The property was the home of the late philanthropist Christel DeHaan, Fox 59 reported.
