A man in Upstate South Carolina was eating dinner when he decided to check the lottery results for the evening, he told lottery officials. He noticed that someone had won the $300,000 prize in the Palmetto Cash 5.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if I had that ticket,” he thought, digging his hand into his pocket to pull out the lottery ticket he decided to buy spontaneously, lottery officials said in a news release.

Turns out, he did have that ticket, he told lottery officials.

He couldn’t help but scream. “I have the ticket! I have the ticket!” he told lottery officials he shouted.

The man’s winning ticket, which he picked up from the SG Express in Greenville, was complete luck, and he had bought it on a whim, he told lottery officials.

After discovering the huge win, he was so ecstatic he couldn’t finish his dinner, according to lottery officials. The excitement began to kick in.

“My ultimate goal is to purchase a home,” the man, who wasn’t named in the release, told lottery officials.

The SG Express that sold the winning ticket got a commission of $3,000, lottery officials said.

The odds of winning $300,000 in the Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,405,438, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.
