Lottery player listens to her mom — and wins thousands off $2 ticket, SC officials say
One South Carolina woman is a lot richer after following a classic piece of advice — always listen to your mother.
In fact, it was her mother’s advice that led to the Upstate woman buying a $2 lottery ticket, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said in a March 25 news release.
“My Mom said to go ahead and try your luck,” the daughter said, after admitting she was unsure if she wanted to buy a lottery ticket.
The woman bought the ticket in Greenwood, and headed back to her mother’s home, where she scratched it on her porch.
A $30,000 win was revealed on the ticket — and the two women began to scream.
The daughter was quite busy a few days after cashing the ticket, she told officials.
“I’m looking for a new house,” she said.
The player had a 1 in 432,000 chance to win $30,000 in the Cash Drop game.
