A woman was cooking and doing laundry when “something told” her to get a scratch-off ticket from her purse, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

When she scratched the ticket off, what she saw “took a while to dawn” on her, according to a Feb. 27 news release from the lottery agency.

The woman from Lancaster won $75,000. She told lottery officials she plans to hire someone to help with housework.

The woman had bought the $3 winning scratch ticket after filling up her gas tank at a gas station in Lancaster, which is about 60 miles northeast of Columbia.

The release did not specify how much of the prize she took home after tax witholdings.
