Two Kentucky cashiers’ work break got a little more exciting when they decided to buy a lottery scratch-off.

Tyesha Trice and Dylan Mitchell, co-workers at Valu Market in Louisville, were “just messing around and decided to play” the lottery, according to a Feb. 28 news release by the Kentucky Lottery.

The pair bought two scratch-off tickets for $30 and ended up winning $100, lotto officials said.

They decided to test their lucky streak and bought a $50 500X ticket, the release said.

“We were excited about the first win,” the co-workers told officials. “We even did a little fist bump.”

The pair “scratched off the first spot” and realized they had won already $500, according to the release.

“I saw the second one and thought I was going to pass out,” Trice said in the release.

The co-workers kept scratching and kept winning, ending up with a sum of $50,000, officials said.

The pair went to Lottery Headquarters to claim their big prize on Mitchell’s birthday, officials said.

“I’ll never forget it,” Mitchell said in the release. “Definitely, a birthday to remember.”

Valu Market will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket, officials said.

After taxes, the two both went home with $17,875, the release said.

Lottery officials said Mitchell will put the winnings toward getting a car and finding housing while Trice will be using the money on rent and savings.
