A worried mother was concerned something was wrong when her daughter called after visiting her.

Instead, she had life-changing news to share — she had just won the jackpot in a Michigan Lottery game.

The 50-year-old woman from Wayne County said she purchased the Blazing Hot 7’s ticket at a CVS in Allen Park on her way home from visiting her mother, according to a March 13 news release.

When she scanned the ticket on her lottery app, she said she was confused when confetti appeared on the screen. She didn’t believe she was a $500,000 winner.

“I looked the ticket over again, which is when I realized I had overlooked ‘04’ in the ‘Your Numbers’ section,” she told lottery officials. “I started hyperventilating and called my mom and sister to tell them the news. They thought something bad had happened until I explained that I’d just won $500,000.”

She said she plans to use the money for a vacation and investing.

“Winning is such a blessing and will allow me to set myself up for a good future,” the woman said, according to the news release.

The $5 Blazing Hot 7’s game offers three $500,000 prizes and 10 worth $10,000.

Allen Park is a southwest suburb of Detroit.
