Man was happy with $700 lottery win, but then he scores a bigger prize. ‘Such a shock’
Already happy with a $700 lottery win, a Michigan man continued to try his luck — and won big.
The 40-year-old from Muskegon County said he was playing the Michigan Lottery’s online Royal VIP game early in the morning as he took his dog outside. Then the dog’s potty break turned fruitful for its owner.
A few minutes after winning $700, he won the game’s jackpot prize of $300,000, the Michigan Lottery said in a March 20 news release.
“I thought I only won $300 at first,” he told lottery officials. “When I realized I had actually won $300,000, I didn’t think it was real.”
The lottery player, who chose to remain anonymous, said he didn’t believe he really won until he saw his account balance with instructions on how to claim his prize.
“It was such a shock and is still sinking in,” he said in the release.
He said he plans on saving his winnings.
