Coworkers have been playing Powerball together for a year. It finally paid off in SC
Four coworkers have been playing Powerball for a year, and now they’re splitting a big prize, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.
The group won a $100,000 prize after buying tickets for one drawing per week for one year, according to a March 21 news release.
The group’s spokesperson said the “entire group is joyous,” the release says. The spokesperson told lottery officials she was “walking around in circles” when a coworker called to say they’d won.
The coworkers are talking about saving some of the money, making travel plans and doing home improvement projects, the lottery said.
But they also plan to continue playing.
“We hope to get the big one,” the group’s spokesperson told lottery officials.
The group came within one number of winning a $754 million jackpot on Feb. 6, according to the release. Jackpot prize amounts depend on ticket sales.
The coworkers bought their winning ticket at an Exxon gas station in Fountain Inn, about 85 miles northwest of Columbia.
