Cops try to stop minivan driving on flat — then it bursts into flames, WI video shows
Police saved an 84-year-old man from a burning minivan in Kenosha, Wisconsin, video shows.
In the April 25 dashcam video, shared on Facebook by the Kenosha Police Department, an officer is seen trying to pull over a minivan driving on a flat tire. Emergency lights are on and the siren is blaring, but the driver keeps going, even as sparks continuously fly off the minivan’s bare rim.
Then the wheel well suddenly bursts into flames, video shows. The minivan continues on, leaving a trail of fire behind it.
The blaze spreads quickly, and when officers catch up seconds later, the minivan is almost entirely engulfed.
The driver steps out of the vehicle slowly, and appears to be struggling to move, video shows. Officers rush over to the man and pull him to safety.
“Nobody sustained any major injuries,” police said. “Thanks to the officers for their selfless service to community.”
Kenosha is roughly 40 miles south of downtown Milwaukee.
