After Heather Pierson got off work, she drove to a convenience store and bought an Iowa lottery ticket.

Once back in her car, she began scratching the $2 “Wild Bingo” scratch game ticket, according to a news release from the Iowa Lottery.

“I scratched it off and I was sitting in my car and I’m like, ‘What the heck? That can’t be right!’” Pierson recalled when claiming her prize on May 19. “I took it inside and scanned it, and I about passed out!”

She had won the game’s $25,000 top prize, officials said.

“I basically was told that I had to get a new car, so it couldn’t have come at a better time for me,” Pierson told lottery officials. “It’s just crazy how it worked out.”

Davenport is about 170 miles east of Des Moines.
