A Michigan woman tried her luck at the lottery after hearing about a game from her friend. Then she won a six-figure sum.

The woman, a 55-year-old Lapeer County resident, picked up a Money Match Fast Cash ticket at a grocery store in North Branch, according to a June 7 news release from the Michigan Lottery.

“I don’t usually play Fast Cash, but my friend loves the Fast Cash games and told me about them, so I decided to give one a try,” she told lottery officials.

It paid off. She wound up winning a $774,423 jackpot.

“I looked the ticket over when I got home and was in awe when I realized how much I’d won,” she said, according to the lottery. “All I could think was: ‘This can’t be real!’ I called my friend right away to tell him the good news.”

She plans to use her prize money to take a trip and renovate her home. Then she will save the rest.

“Winning is amazing and feels like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders,” she told lottery officials.

Lapeer County is about 60 miles north of Detroit.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.
