Lottery player buys ticket for game she’d never seen in Washington — and wins big prize
A woman from Snohomish County, Washington, was grocery shopping at a Safeway when a lottery game she had never seen before caught her eye, lottery officials said.
Her curiosity won her $1 million.
The woman said she bought a Scratch ticket when she saw one with the same name as her and her mother’s favorite casino game, Washington’s Lottery said in a June 27 news release.
She bought the Let it Ride ticket with $20 she won on a previous lottery game, left the store and scratched it in her car.
That’s when she realized she won a big prize — $1 million.
But she didn’t believe it at first, so she went back into Safeway to double-check with the employees. They assured her she had won, lottery officials said.
She then called her husband, who was also in “disbelief,” lottery officials said in the release.
Now the couple has plans to go on a cruise, checking off a box on their bucket list.
