‘Never thought I’d ever win this much.’ Woman wins big on lottery ticket from husband
A Maryland man recently made a stop into a convenience store — and grabbed a gift for his scratch-off loving wife.
The man bought his 74-year-old wife a Money Bag Multiplier instant ticket, which is one of her favorites, he told officials, according to an Oct. 20 Maryland Lottery news release. Then, he went to pick his wife up.
Once the couple was in the car together, the husband gave his wife the ticket he bought, and she immediately scratched it, officials said. When they saw the prize, they were stunned.
“I won a little playing this scratch-off in the past, but I never thought I’d ever win this much,” the woman told officials.
The ticket matched one of the winning numbers, earning the couple the top prize of $100,000, according to officials.
After seeing their big win, the couple hid the ticket in a safe place at home until they could cash in their prize, they told officials. Now they plan to use their winnings to pay for vehicle loans and home improvements. Leftover money “will be saved for a rainy day.”
The ticket came from the Stop & Shop Convenience Mart in Fort Washington, which is about 20 miles south of Washington, D.C.
