‘Armed and dangerous’ dad on the run after mom of 4 shot dead in home, MA cops say
An “armed and dangerous” man is on the run after his children led police to their mother, who was shot dead inside their Massachusetts home, according to authorities and news reports.
A search is underway for Aaron Pennington, 33, who is a murder suspect in connection with the death of his wife, Breanne Pennington, 30, which occurred Oct. 22 at their home in Gardner, according to an Oct. 24 Massachusetts State Police news release.
Four children of Aaron and Breanne Pennington arrived at a neighbor’s home “scared” and seeking help at about 9:14 that morning, according to an application for a criminal complaint filed that day, WCVB reported.
They “could not find their father and their mother was in her bedroom crying,” a Massachusetts state trooper wrote in the application for a criminal complaint, according to WCVB.
The children’s ages are 2, 5, 7 and 9, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said at a news briefing the evening of Oct. 22.
When officers arrived at the home, Breanne Pennington was found fatally shot in the face while lying on a bed, according to police, The Gardner News reported.
The evening of Oct. 23, Pennington’s car, a BMW, was discovered abandoned in the woods at Camp Collier in Gardner, state police said in their latest news release.
Police are warning the public to not approach Pennington if they see him and instead call 911, according to state police.
He may have a gun with him, authorities said.
Pennington and his wife were believed to be experiencing issues in their marriage before her death, according to the application for the criminal complaint, Boston 25 News reported.
“Breanne Pennington had plans of moving to Texas with the kids to be away from Aaron Pennington. Aaron Pennington suffered from mental health issues and had threatened suicide,” police wrote in the application, according to the outlet.
Pennington is described as white, has blond hair and blue eyes, is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs around 175 pounds, police said.
Breanne Pennington’s high school friend Chelsea Lowe told WCVB “she didn’t deserve it.”
“She was such a good mother and such a good wife,” Lowe told the outlet.
Gardner is about 65 miles northwest of Boston.
