‘Rambunctious’ dog was rescued from starvation. Now, she’s up for adoption in Florida
A “rambunctious” dog was rescued from starvation — and now, she’s up for adoption in Florida.
Brianna the dog is known for being a “wigglebutt” with “endless energy.” But the first months of the 1-year-old pup’s life were tough, according to the Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue.
“Sweet little Brianna came to us as an extreme starvation case from the Dekalb County shelter in Fort Payne (Alabama),” the rescue wrote Nov. 8 in a Facebook post. “She had been confiscated from her owner by animal control for neglect and abuse.”
As Brianna was recovering, the animal organization in late August asked for donations to go toward the great Dane’s medical care. She was known to inhale her food after coming to the rescue severely underweight, photos show.
“She’s bounced back beautifully, with medical issues resolved, vaccinations up to date, and a brand-new spay,” the rescue wrote in October.
Now, Brianna is living with a foster family in Pensacola, where she enjoys exploring her neighborhood. She’s learning how to walk on a leash and is working on potty training.
“She knows she should go outside, but a few times has decided that is too much effort,” the rescue wrote.
Brianna — described as “the definition of happy and fun-loving” — is still in need of a home as of Nov. 9, the Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue told McClatchy News in an email. More details about the organization’s adoption process are available at nwflgdr.com/adopt.
Pensacola is in the Florida Panhandle, near the Alabama border.
