A couple’s cruise vacation later helped them win $100,000 in the Maryland Lottery — one year later.

While filling out their cruise paperwork for a 2023 cruise, the woman from District Heights noticed a five-digit number on the paperwork. She used the combination 72799 when she played the lottery, she told officials.

Almost one year since their cruise ended, the combination worked, winning her and her husband the big prize during a Pick 5 drawing March 31.

The couple have no big plans for the money yet.

For now, “I’m just going to sit on it and add to it,” the winner told officials. They do plan to celebrate the win with family in the coming weeks.

The “lottery enthusiast” has won before. Her largest win was in September for $10,000, officials said. Her husband has also won some lottery prizes.

District Heights, Maryland, is about an 11-mile drive northeast of Washington D.C.
