Lottery player ‘shed some tears’ when Michigan store clerk told him he hit the jackpot
A Michigan lottery player was brought to tears when the store clerk totaled his winnings.
The 34-year-old purchased a $20 Jumbo Jackpot Slots Fast Cash ticket May 7 and went to the machine to learn if he had won a prize, according to Michigan Lottery Connect.
“I scanned the ticket without looking it over and got a message to see the retailer. I handed my ticket to the person working, and he looked it over and then told me I’d won the jackpot plus $250,000,” the Macomb County man told lottery officials.
His winnings totaled $1.05 million — an $800,000 jackpot plus a $250,000 bonus.
“I’m not going to lie, I definitely shed some tears!” he told officials.
He plans to use the winnings to care for his children and invest.
Macomb County is about a 40-mile drive northeast of Detroit.
