A school bus going to pick up children before school failed to yield, then ended up in a pond, Wisconsin officials said.

The bus paused at a stop sign then started to cross a highway, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office said in a Nov. 26 Facebook post. The bus didn’t yield to a passing car, which struck the bus and caused it to flip off of the road, according to deputies.

Photos and body camera footage from deputies show the school bus upside down, partially submerged in a small pond adjacent to the road.

The bus driver said she was on her way to pick up the children on the route and take them to school, according to footage from police. The driver was not injured and no children were on the bus.

Racine County is about a 30-mile drive south from downtown Milwaukee.
