A woman gave her husband $20 to gamble with at a Las Vegas casino and he ended up winning a massive jackpot.

The couple was at the Rampart Casino, which is about a 15-mile drive northwest from the Strip, the casino said in a Dec. 7 news release.

The husband ran out of gambling money, so the wife gave him a $20.

He took the money to a Dollar Storm slot machine, “betting $1 on two-cent denominations,” the casino said.

After about 10 minutes of playing, a jackpot message appeared saying he had won $945,119.

“We’re especially thrilled when our local community members experience such life-changing moments,” the resort’s vice president and general manager, Michelle McHugh, said in the release.

Another gambler recently hit a huge jackpot prize on the same game but at a different casino in Vegas.

The visitor was at Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel when they bet $2.50 on a Dollar Storm slot machine and won over $138,000, McClatchy News reported.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
