‘Devastating’ house fire orphaned cat in New York. Now Marshall needs a home
A cat with a complex past is in need of a new family — and home — after he was saved by a couple of heroes, a New York shelter said.
Marshall, a domestic short hair cat around 9 years old with an enduring personality, managed to survive a traumatic event that included a fire and the loss of one of his owners.
“Marshall’s story is a testament to resilience. When a devastating house fire claimed his home and one of his human companions, Marshall ran to the firefighters for help. Somehow, though, he got away from them,” the SPCA Serving Erie County, NY in West Seneca said in a Dec. 11 Facebook post.
But that wasn’t the end of Marshall’s journey.
“After the fire, the landlord’s grandson refused to give up on Marshall and his siblings. For two long weeks, he returned to the charred remains of the house, setting traps and searching tirelessly. His determination paid off, and he was able to rescue all three cats from the rubble!”
Marshall is safe at the SPCA, where he is known as a “gentleman,” his pet profile says.
“I enjoy making new friends, both human and feline, and soaking up all kinds of attention,” the profile details. “I’ll gladly come over and rub against your hand to ask for lots of pets and love. I’d love to find a quiet home where I can spend my golden years curled up in a cozy spot and enjoying a midday nap.”
