A woman driving with her mother in the car rear-ended a construction truck painting lines on the road, causing injuries to her mom that later killed her, Minnesota deputies said.

Jessica Hannine is now charged with criminal vehicular homicide and driving after driver’s license revocation for the June 25 crash in Meadowlands Township, according to court documents filed Dec. 13.

Hannine’s attorney information was not listed.

The 49-year-old daughter was driving approximately 60 mph down a highway when she rear-ended a truck painting lane lines, which had been going between 5 and 10 mph, according to the criminal complaint.

Deputies said the driver did not slow down or brake before striking the truck, though the truck displayed warning signs such as flashing lights.

Her mother, Marianne Violette, was immediately taken to the hospital and intubated after the crash, according to court documents. The crash caused traumatic brain injuries and multiple fractures in her ribs, hip and spine, officials said.

She died July 6, the complaint said.

Deputies spoke to Hannine at the scene of the crash, where they said her speech was “slurred, slow and deliberate,” the complaint said. They noted that she was profusely sweating.

A blood test noted there were amphetamine and methamphetamine in her system when she crashed, court documents said.

Hannine is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 6. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison.

Meadowlands Township is about a 170-mile drive northeast from Minneapolis.
