Home buyers ‘saw all the zeros’ on Maryland lottery ticket. Now they have down payment
A New York City couple got one step closer to buying a home in Maryland with the help of a big lottery win, officials said.
Juan Infante thought he won $50 — then he “saw all the zeros” and realized he had actually won $50,000, he told lottery officials in a news release.
Infante bought the winning ticket while visiting Baltimore recently, officials said. He and his wife have been hunting for a home in Maryland’s “tough seller’s market.”
The longtime lottery scratch-off player initially played his favorite crossword game, but didn’t win anything, officials said. So he tried his luck again and ended up with a $10 prize that he added a $5 Cash Boom scratch-off to, which revealed three vaults that he scanned and realized had won him the $50,000 top prize.
“This is a down payment!” the longtime bartender told officials.
The Ravens football fan debated treating himself with tickets to the playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, Jan. 11, officials said.
The Cash Boom game he played launched in September 2023 and “still has three $50,000 top prizes remaining along with more than 300,000 prizes ranging from $10 to $5,000,” officials said. .
