A stunned Michigan Lottery winner says he had difficulty believing the validity of his jackpot win.

The 38-year-old man from Clinton County won big while playing the Michigan Lottery’s Caribbean Cashword instant game. He said he deposited $40 into his account, then secured a huge jackpot prize on his second game.

“When the screen showed my big win, I started shaking and couldn’t stop,” he told lottery officials in a Feb. 5 news release. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing was real. I told my parents and girlfriend as soon as I saw them!”

He won the game’s top prize of $150,000. Odds of hitting the jackpot in the $5 game are 1 in 1,500,000.

Now, the winner plans to pay off bills and start a business.

“Winning is pretty cool and means I will be debt free,” he told lottery officials.

Clinton County is about a 105-mile drive northwest from Detroit.
