Lucky lottery player who won multiple times previously takes home a much bigger prize
A man added a last-minute lottery ticket to his purchase and ended up taking home a “big payday,” Maryland officials said.
The Gaithersburg man initially went to buy a Multi-Match ticket for the Feb. 20 drawing when he decided to add a $1 Racetrack Superfecta quick-pick ticket, according to a Feb. 24 news release by the Maryland Lottery.
The man, who’s won a few hundred dollars in the past, had no idea his horses 4, 12, 8 and 11 would help him land $140, 903, officials said.
“I drove back home and I checked it in my driveway,” he told officials.
After learning of his lucky win, he rushed inside and told a family member the “great news,” officials said.
He’s keeping the win a secret but plans to use the money toward bills and to “boost his bank account,” lottery officials said.
No one hit the Multi-Match prize jackpot during the Feb. 20 drawing, which means the Feb. 24 winner could land $3.3 million or opt for the cash version of $1.9 million before taxes, officials said.
Gaithersburg is about a 45-mile drive southwest of Baltimore.
