While the state’s response to the coronavirus has been the main impetus for these now semi-regular press briefings, Newsom has touched on a variety of other subjects in recent days.

Gov. Newsom offered solidarity to the people protesting the death of George Floyd in police custody, while condemning property damage and looting. The governor has also discussed the state’s budget situation, where the state is facing a deficit of more than $54 billion.
