Gov. Gavin Newsom gave an update on the state’s efforts to contain the coronavirus outbreak Wednesday afternoon. Click the video below to watch a replay.

The latest press conference comes amid an increase in coronavirus cases across the state, which hit a new daily record — 11,500 new cases — on Monday. Newsom attributed some of that surge to backlogged cases in Los Angeles County.

California has reported over 277,000 cases as of July 6 and Newsom on Wednesday added another three counties — Napa, San Benito and Yolo — to his watch list, bringing the total of 26. Those counties are forced to shutter indoor operations for at least three weeks. Placer, Yuba and Sutter county health officials are preparing to join that group as they battle a sharp uptick in infections.
