Pritchard leads in Yolo’s 3rd District supervisors race to represent parts of Woodland
Dotty Pritchard took an early lead Tuesday night in the race for Yolo County’s 3rd District supervisor seat, capturing 43% of the vote in initial returns, according to county election results.
Woodland City Councilmember Mayra Vega followed with 32.3%, while former Woodland councilmember Xochitl Rodriguez received 24.6%.
The race will determine who succeeds Supervisor Mary Vixie Sandy, who is not seeking reelection.
Pritchard is a Yolo County native who spent decades teaching and worked as a deputy under multiple Yolo County supervisors. Pritchard raised about $50,000 for her campaign and has the support of the Yolo County Business PAC, which backs pro-business candidates.
Rodriguez is a former Woodland city councilmember, small business owner and military veteran who served as a deputy secretary at the California Department of Veterans Affairs. Rodriguez’s campaign raised about $35,000. She was endorsed by three Woodland school board members and four members of the Yolo County Board of Education.
Vega is a Woodland city councilmember, small business owner and executive coach. Vega’s campaign raised more than $70,000, including a $15,000 contribution from the candidate last week. She was endorsed by the California Democratic Party, the Yolo County Democratic Party and the Davis College Democrats.
