New California state job postings: Check out the latest openings in Sacramento County

The state of California is hiring in the Department of Industrial Relations, Folsom State Prison, the Department of Food and Agriculture and more.

Remember, the California Department of Human Resources implemented COVID-19 testing of all unvaccinated state employees working on site as an additional health and safety standard. Those who seek exemption of testing and facial covering must provide proof of vaccination.

State jobs are known for offering great benefits and enrollment in the nation’s largest state public pension plan. Many of the following jobs have specific requirements, which are linked. Sift through the new Sacramento County-based jobs available on the CalCareers website, posted in the last seven days, as of Feb. 3:

Workers’ compensation consultant | permanent full-time

Department: Industrial Relations

Salary: $5,934 to $7,432 per month

Under the general direction of the supervising workers’ compensation consultant, this position is responsible for the case management of their files. The worker reviews all relevant documents relative to their caseload and determines the course of action each file will require in order to achieve closure or settlement.

Supervising correctional cook | limited term full-time

Department: Corrections - Folsom State Prison

Salary: $4,500 to $5,630 per month

Under the direct supervision of the assistant correctional food manager, this position is in charge of all food production and service from the kitchen for an assigned shift. The worker oversees the cooking and serving of food to the inmate population, as well as sanitation, food and supplies purchasing, maintenance of equipment and training of staff and inmates.

Veterinarian (general) | Permanent full-time

Department: Food and Agriculture

Salary: $6,669 to $10,029 per month

The veterinarian will plan, organize, and carry out scientific research studies focused on poultry surveillance for avian influenza, poultry diseases, poultry care issues and food safety. The worker will act as a technical scientific consultant on epidemiologic or biostatistical investigations of poultry diseases and outbreaks and serve as an expert or lead in one or more of the poultry programs or functions.

Specifications (transportation) engineer (civil) | Permanent full-time

Department: Transportation

Salary: $5,849 to 10,956 per month

Under the direction of a senior bridge engineer, the specifications engineer prepares and reviews structure specifications for the construction of bridges and other transportation-related structures.

Tax auditor | Permanent full-time

Department: Franchise Tax Board

Salary: $3,991 to $6,489 per month

The tax auditors will plan and organize multiple audits, work directly with taxpayers or their representatives to obtain and analyze relevant facts and make appropriate determinations that are fair and impartial. The tax auditor will then provide complete and concise communication of their findings through written reports or organized meetings.

The filing deadline is March 19.

Warehouse worker | permanent full-time

Department: Franchise Tax Board

Salary: $3,572 to $4,078 per month

The warehouse worker independently receives incoming shipments and ensures for accuracy, checks incoming purchase orders, prepares bills of lading documents, stocks and shelves incoming inventory, assembles and packs supply and publication orders for shipment, delivers supplies to various units within the central headquarters building and outside offices and more.

The filing deadline is Feb. 10.
