Two weeks ago, The Sacramento Bee asked readers which style of work they prefer and if their employers, including state government offices, are requiring them to work in person.

The survey closed last week, and results show that most people prefer working remotely. A reminder: This survey was for fun, and is not scientific.

Here are the results:

A total of 1,114 state workers responded to the question about in-person work requirements, with an even 50/50 split on whether they were asked to return to the office by last week.

However, roughly 70% said they prefer remote work.

Only 157 non-state workers responded to the survey. Of those, roughly half of respondents said they prefer remote work and about half said they were asked to return to the office in some capacity.

Percentages for work style preferences varied for the two groups. In-person was the least popular.

Less than 10% of people said they prefer being back fully in person for both state workers and non state workers.

The second most popular option was a combination of both, or hybrid. Nearly a quarter of state workers said they prefer a hybrid model, while 36% of other workers said they preferred hybrid.
