Why the Garden Highway exit from southbound Interstate 5 will be limited for a month
The Garden Highway off ramp from southbound Interstate 5 will be partially closed to ensure worker safety beginning Thursday, according to Caltrans.
The closure is scheduled to last through May 31, as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin levee work near the exit, according to a news release. Motorists will be unable to turn right at the end of the ramp, but the eastbound direction of Garden Highway will remain open, Caltrans says.
Alternative routes suggested by Caltrans include exiting at the Richards Boulevard off-ramp, taking northbound I-5 and exiting at Garden Highway or West El Camino Avenue.
Weather or unexpected events could lead to an extended closure.
