Rain is about to hit the Sacramento region. Here’s how much rain is predicted for Thursday’s storm

A winter storm is nearing the Sacramento region and is expected to arrive Wednesday morning, bringing an estimated inch of rain the National Weather Service predicts.

“The peak (of the storm) will probably be sometime early mid-morning hours,” said Scott Rowe, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Sacramento. “Sometime around probably 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. or so we will see some of the heaviest precipitation rates in Sacramento, as well as some strong winds associated with that too.”

Due to increase cloud coverage Thursday morning during the storm, temperatures will hover around 45 degrees, he said. Rain is expected to last through the day with mostly clear and dry weather on Friday.

Winds in the Sacramento area will reach 25 to 30 mph, according to Rowe. Another storm is predicted to arrive in the capital region during the weekend bringing more rain to the region.
