The National Weather Service issued multiple hazardous weather warnings this week, as rain, possible thunderstorms and wind engulf the Sacramento region.
The weather service issued a flood watch until 11 p.m. Wednesday for Sacramento; a flood advisory ends at 6 p.m. Monday. A wind advisory is in effect Tuesday.
A flood watch advises people to be prepared for floods because while they may not happen, it is possible because “conditions are favorable for flooding,” according to the service. An advisory warns individuals to be aware as flooding may likely cause an inconvenience and can threaten life or property.
Over the weekend, vigorous winds overtook the city, taking down trees — many of which toppled over cars, streets and homes — and stripping power for more than 300,000 SMUD customers.

Residents can expect turbulent weather to continue Monday and into the rest of the week.
Monday’s high is near 56 degrees with rain predicted before 5 p.m., amounting to about 0.50 to 0.75 inches. Winds are expected at around 23 to 28 mph with gusts up to 55 mph., decreasing into the afternoon.
At night, rain may start after 11 p.m. with a low near 48 degrees. Wind gusts can be as high as 36 mph.
The weather service issued the flood advisory for Sacramento Valley, northern San Joaquin Valley and nearby foothills. It warns motorists to not drive on flooded roads and be aware if you’re close to streams and creeks.
Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are possible through Tuesday. Highs are forecast near 52 with lows around 46. Wind gust speeds during the day can get as high as 39 mph.
Rain is expected to continue until at least Sunday.
