How much rain and snow fell in latest storm? Here are totals for Sacramento and Tahoe area

Rain and low-elevation snow swept through Northern California Thursday night, with more to come.

Gusty winds and on-and-off showers will continue Friday and into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

“A constant light rain starting later tonight and going all the way through Saturday morning,” said Bill Rasch, weather service meteorologist. “The rain should be mostly done by about noon tomorrow.”

Precipitation totals for Sacramento region

Below are 24-hour rain totals as of Friday morning throughout the Sacramento area, according to the national weather service:
  • Sacramento .79 inches
  • Roseville: .50 inches
  • Auburn: .50 inches
  • Folsom: .50 inches
  • Placerville: .50 inches
  • Davis: 1 inch

Here are snow totals for Tahoe and foothills

Snow in the Sierra is forecast through the next five days, according to the weather service. Temperature lows will reach 22 degrees on Saturday night and temperature highs will reach 31 degrees on Sunday.

Below are 24-hour snow totals as of Friday morning, from the national weather service:

  • Placerville: 2 inches
  • Grass Valley: 4 inches
  • Redding: 6 inches
  • Paradise: 6 inches
  • Red Bluff: 6 inches
  • Sierra Snow Lab: 3.75 feet
  • Kirkwood: 2.5 feet
  • Sierra at Tahoe: 2.5 feet
  • Palisades: 2.3 feet

What’s to come

Gusty winds kicked off Friday morning and wind advisory will remain until 4 p.m., according to the weather service.

There will be “rain off and on this afternoon, kind of showery, you know like splash and dash type stuff,” Rasch said.

Saturday is predicted to be a “mostly cloudy” day with the second system coming in Saturday night, according to the weather service forecast.

Temperature lows will dip to 38 degrees on Friday night. Weekend highs will only reach 51 degrees on Saturday, according to the weather service.
