Sacramento County rescuers rushed to motorists trapped atop their vehicle in standing water in Sloughhouse on Monday.

The pair were at Kiefer Boulevard in the south Sacramento County community, officials from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said in a social media post about 9:15 a.m.

Sustained soaking rain from the third in a series of atmospheric river storms that drenched the Sacramento region led to localized street flooding and swollen creeks and streams.

The Sacramento region remains under a flood watch until Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

In El Dorado County, fast moving water from pounding rains left a man stranded in the middle of Sweetwater Creek in El Dorado Hills early Monday forcing El Dorado Fire swift water rescuers to pluck him to safety.
