Letters: Riding in the dark is dangerous. End daylight savings time.

Re “Daylight saving time survives another year in the California Legislature” (sacbee.com, Sept. 13): With daylight savings time extended to the first Sunday of November, we find ourselves riding our bikes, jogging, or walking before work at 6:30 a..m. in pitch black. That’s very dangerous. The original reasoning for daylight savings is no longer viable with modern lighting. It’d also be a relief during the summer with 100 degrees, if the sun set at 7:45 instead of 8:45.
