On “The Buzz With Joe D” on Thursday, Joe Davidson remembered five outstanding Sacramento area high school and junior college football players who are now one game away from playing in the Super Bowl.
“The other thing that’s fun about doing this job over the years,” said the veteran Sacramento Bee sports writer, “is we get to see guys excel in high school and in college and then get into the NFL and (we) put together a cool little list here.”
The video above shows the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers players who started their careers here.
“It’s neat to see guys who were so good back then and still doing great things,” Davidson said on the live weekly show. “Now, it’s hard to get a scholarship. It’s even harder to get into the NFL.”
Harder still to get to the Super Bowl.
