Parade, party planned after Elk Grove’s Kyle Larson wins 2nd NASCAR season title

Elk Grove will celebrate hometown driver Kyle Larson’s second NASCAR Cup Series championship with a parade and victory rally on Friday, Nov. 14.

Larson, 33, completed the feat earning the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series title during the final laps of Sunday’s race at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. While Ryan Blaney captured the checkered flag after 312 laps, Larson edged out Chase Briscoe, William Byron and Denny Hamlin in seven laps of overtime racing to secure his first title since 2021.

“There will be an event parade culminating with a victory party in the Old Elk Grove Plaza, very similar to the 2021 event,” Elk Grove Councilmember Rod Brewer said.

The parade arrives just days before the city’s officially recognizes “Kyle Larson Day,” first declared as Nov. 22 after Larson’s 2021 championship win. The Nov. 14 event will be free and open to the public, city of Elk Grove spokesperson Kristyn Laurence confirmed.

The parade will begin on Elk Grove’s historic Main Street (Elk Grove Boulevard) in Old Town.

A graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, Larson began his career on dirt tracks across Northern California before climbing to NASCAR’s top tier circuit. Driving the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet, he celebrated the season title Sunday with his team and family, performing a signature burnout on the track.
