Sports Night: Vogelsong’s arm, Bumgarner’s bat lift Giants
Giants: Vogelsong pinch starts, Bumgarner pinch hits in 2-0 win over Cardinals
Ryan Vogelsong pitches six innings of two-hit ball and ace Madison Bumgarner keys a seventh-inning rally with his first career pinch hit, helping the Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2-0. Vogelsong strikes out five and walks one while throwing 101 pitches. It is his third straight start in place of Mike Leake, who was acquired at the non-waiver trade deadline, but has been sidelined by a hamstring injury.
A’s: Top Dodgers in 10 innings
Billy Butler hits an RBI double in the 10th inning and the A’s outlast Clayton Kershaw and hold on to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4.

49ers: Skov is regaining health
Shayne Skov might not have been his team’s MVP in Saturday’s exhibition opener in Houston, but he definitely won the iron-man award, logging a game-high 66 snaps. That’s a monumental achievement for a linebacker who, at this point last season, still was getting up to speed after tearing multiple knee ligaments at Stanford in 2011.
