Oakland backup quarterback Matt McGloin plays most of the final three quarters and throws touchdowns to Seth Roberts and Rod Streater in a 31-21 preseason finale loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Giants: Hip surgery to bench Lincecum five months

Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum has surgery on his left hip and needs five months of rehab to be ready for the 2016 season. Before the Giants’ 11-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies, trainer Dave Groeschner said the surgeon “was pretty confident (Lincecum) will get back to major-league pitching for next season.”
