Sports Night: Kershaw, Dodgers slam door on Giants

Giants: Kershaw, Dodgers slam door

Clayton Kershaw pitches the big-money Dodgers to their third straight National League West title, tossing a one-hitter as Los Angeles beats the Giants 8-0 on Tuesday night. The defending champion Giants miss the playoffs in another odd year following a World Series win for the third time in six years – after their 2010, ’12 and ’14 titles.

A’s: Angels keep climbing, rout Oakland

Albert Pujols has an RBI double among his three hits, Erick Aybar drives in three runs and the Los Angeles Angels take over the lead for the second American League wild-card playoff spot with their seventh consecutive victory, 8-1 over the A’s.

Kings: Team explores options at power forward

For the better part of seven seasons, Jason Thompson started at power forward for the Kings. This season will be different, as the longest-tenured player in Sacramento history was traded in the offseason. Coach George Karl begins examining the candidates during the team’s first practice of training camp at UC San Diego.

Voisin: Collison OK with sharing backcourt duties

Veteran NBA point guard Darren Collison chose the Kings because he knew he’d be the starter. After injuries cut his 2014-15 season short, he was essentially replaced by another longtime guard in Rajon Rondo, a former All-Star who helped the Boston Celtics win a title.
