Sports Night: Magic, Stockton, Nash ... Belinelli?

Kings: Karl likes what former Spur brings to table

Can Marco Belinelli be a legendary leader for the Kings? Well, allow Kings coach George Karl to explain: “Like Magic Johnson makes everybody play the right way. John Stockton makes everybody play the right way. Steve Nash makes everybody play the right way. Belinelli’s not on that list, but he has that skill.” Belinelli comes off the bench and scores 12 points Wednesday night in the Kings’ 102-98 loss to the Suns in Phoenix.

49ers: Kaepernick not worried about job security

Colin Kaepernick insisted Wednesday he’s not worried about his job security and that his confidence level is at maximum capacity. To be sure, coach Jim Tomsula met with the 49ers’ starting quarterback this week to gauge whether the bad memories from his four-interception outing against Arizona had caused him to play too tentatively against Green Bay.

Raiders: Woodson’s still got it

When Charles Woodson entered the NFL nearly two decades ago, the idea that he’d still be playing at age 39 never crossed his mind. Yet here he is in his 18th season, ignoring a banged-up shoulder that limits his practice time and his tackling ability and still grinding away for the Raiders with the energy of a much younger player.

National League wild-card game: Cubs shut out Pirates

Jake Arrieta allows four hits in nine dominant innings as the Chicago Cubs roll to a 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League wild-card game. Arrieta strikes out 11 without a walk. He also dusts himself off after getting plunked by Pittsburgh reliever Tony Watson to send the Cubs to the National League Division Series in St. Louis starting on Friday.
