Friday night’s scores and next week’s schedule for Sacramento-area high school football

Confused about all the Sacramento-area high school sports leagues? We sort them out for you with this guide.

In a flash, the high school football season in Sacramento has hit the eighth week. That’s right — eight games for some, seven for others, in a 10-week regular-season sprint to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs, that start Nov. 8.

As league races tighten and contenders become pretenders and upstarts become contenders, The Bee hit the field running to keep tabs of it all.

Among the games:

The old-school Grant Pacers, playing football since 1932, played four-year-old West Park of Roseville for the top spot in the revamped Metro League. The Bee was there.

The Del Campo Cougars played the Roseville Tigers in Placer County for positioning in the competitive Foothill Valley League. The Bee was there.

In the Delta League with Elk Grove Unified School District programs, the Cosumnes Oaks Wolf Pack visited the Sheldon Huskies, both teams eager for a win. The Bee was there.

In Sierra Delta League play, small-schools meet with the aim of winning a league crown as the Highlands Scots hosted the Lindhurst Blazers of Olivehurst. The Bee was there.
